MABUHAY!
The MAKATI AIKIDO DOJO was established in 1997 as the headquarters of Aikido Philippines when Jun Alejo Sensei served as its president. It was previously known as the “Valenzuela Aikido Dojo” but is still more popularly called as “BALER DOJO” after the name of its street location in Makati’s Valenzuela district.
In 1998, the MAKATI AIKIDO DOJO played host to the longest overseas Aikido training program conducted by a Tokyo Hombu Dojo Instructor in the past decade.
FUJIMAKI HIROSHI Shihan conducted a 6-month Teacher’s Training Program called “AIKIDO ‘98” through the auspices of the Japan Foundation with the coordination of Reggie Ofrin Sensei. This once-in-a-lifetime program gave our dojo the honorable privilege of opening its doors to teachers & practitioners of all local Aikido organizations who flocked over from various parts of the Philippines to participate and learn from one of the best Hombu Dojo teachers of this generation.
Countless local & foreign aikido practitioners have trained on the mats of our dojo since that historic event. We can proudly say that these students have deservedly earned their blackbelts and have become teachers in their own dojos to spread the gospel of Aikido throughout the Philippines.
Our doors remain open as always to any aikidoka of any affiliation to join us in the spirit of camaraderie in the practice of Aikido.
Likewise, we welcome new students who would like to begin their journey with us in the fascinating art that is Aikido.
Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu.
